The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion is now out for testing on the Xbox One, and as such we are looking forward to finding out just what this new MMORPG has to offer us. So what is so special about The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion? Well, that depends on what kind of game you are expecting to play. If you enjoy classic style games like Baldur’s Gate and The Lord of the Rings then you will love The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion.
The story of The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion is that you enter a magical realm after escaping the confines of your own body. You will be required to prove yourself to the Jarls of your realm, and there are a number of different races and class types to choose from. For example, if you want to be a Vampire Lord, a High Elf Priestess, or an Orcs Warrior, then you can do so in The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion. Each of these races and classes come with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. This is where you will need to think about which skills and abilities you wish to improve, and which you wish to abandon, because those too will have a significant impact on the game experience.
You may also find that the story of The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion has a number of sub-plots, like the one in which you find yourself trapped in Durance Bay during the Thirteenth Hour. While you aren’t actually in the game at this time, this is one plot that is already very well developed. You can help the characters you meet along the way and help to defeat the Daedric prince Jagarth, who rules the Underdark. If you are playing on the PC, you will need to download the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game for this portion of the story-line. Otherwise, you will find that you cannot successfully complete the quests and other activities.
Speaking of activities, there are two major locations within the game: Harnas and Whiterun. The former is a city located in the northwest of the Alliance zone of Talabheim, while the latter is a ruin located in the southeast of the same area. When you enter Harnas, you will be greeted by a group of vampire followers waiting for you. Inside you will find a statue of a Daedric prince. After speaking with him, the ground beneath your feet begins to collapse.
If you are trying to make your way through the ruins, you will find that blood will drip from every corner, and that you will likely become infected by disease. Fortunately, there are also a number of trainers inside the area who are ready to teach you the skills necessary for you to overcome this challenge. You will learn about archery, stealth, traps, and stealth, among other things, as you work your way through the game. The developer also provided a daedric prince boss battle in the video, and you can obtain the daedric prince portrait as well as the rewards for defeating him. In the Gates of Oblivion cinematic trailer, you will also see several instances where you can defeat Durnarr in a certain manner, after which he retreats to his tower.
Throughout the game, there are several iconic locations that you will want to explore, including Harkon, the tower of the lich king, the Throat Falls, and the Cavern of Coldharbor. Throughout the video, one can also see where you obtain items for your character by finding them or buying them from merchants. Another item that can be obtained is the staff of Stone, which permanently boosts your stealth detection level. The video shows you exactly how to get the staff.
At the end of the video, there is a short quest for one to help the Vestige find his sword Baskent at the tower of the Lich King. The location is not clear in the video, but you need to kill some undead near the top of the tower. The story line here is that the Vestige has somehow gained the intelligence to command undead, so you have to help him locate Baskent and destroy him. After you do this, you can go speak with the Queen, who is the true leader of the vampires. The two of you can then travel to the Undercity, where the main part of the game takes place.
